Pumpkin Spice at Spicewood

Brilliant Fall days, crisp Autumn nights, and the excitement leading up to Halloween sets the mood for Pumpkin Spice in everything. Can’t you just imagine the aromas of cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla? Mmmmm!

Get in that October frame of mind with a visit to nearby Krause Springs to see the trees turning glorious shades of gold and orange. Even the mosses that overhang the springs and waterfall are showing their Autumn colors.

Then c’mon back to your own cozy RV at Open Air Resorts – Spicewood to create special Pumpkin Spice recipes to please every member of your camping crew.

Pumpkin Spice Latte

No need to drive to a fancy coffee shop. You can do this yourself!
• ½ cup STRONG coffee
• 1 cup milk
• 2-4 Tbs pumpkin syrup
• Aerosol whipped cream
• Cinnamon or nutmeg sugar for sprinkling (1/4 cup white sugar mixed with 1 tsp of either cinnamon or nutmeg – use this to sprinkle lightly on top. Don’t use the whole mixture!)
Directions…
• Heat milk in microwave until steaming hot while you make the coffee
• Combine coffee and pumpkin syrup in a large mug. Stir to combine.
• Gently pour in hot milk and stir to combine.
• Top with whipped cream and a dash of spiced sugar.

Adult Version…
Get out that bottle of Texas-made Tito’s Vodka. Pour in as much as you like. It’s smooooth!

Pumpkin Spice Oatmeal

A perfect October breakfast in the RV. All you have to do is mix the ingredients together the night before and put them into your Crock Pot. It literally cooks overnight!
• 2 cups steel cut oats
• One 15-oz can pumpkin
• 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
• 1/4 cup brown sugar
• 6 cups water
• 2 cups milk
• 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
*Pro tip: Use a liner or a quick blast of cooking spray in your Crock Pot for easy clean up. Add all ingredients together in the Crock Pot, place the lid on, and cook on low heat for 5 hours.

Did you remember to take pictures at Krause Springs? No? Well, go back there and take your camera. Krause Springs is a hidden gem. Heather F says, “This place looks like a fairy wonderland – it is so ethereal and beautiful!”
